Glaucoma is known as the “silent thief of sight” because it can rob you of your vision without you even noticing!
Glaucoma is commonly caused by increased eye pressure. When the pressure within the eye remains high for an extended period of time, optic nerve damage can occur— leading to vision loss and even total blindness.
Unfortunately, glaucoma typically doesn’t produce any visual symptoms in its early stages and is often only diagnosed once permanent damage has already occurred.
Early detection of glaucoma is key, as it allows for earlier treatment and control of the condition. Glaucoma treatment may involve the use of eye drops, medications or surgery to reduce eye pressure and preserve vision.
Schedule regular eye exams with your eye doctor to ensure that your eyes remain healthy, and to prevent glaucoma from robbing you of your sight!
